The Dog Connection Name it right

The Dog Connection Name it right

Spike, Thunder, Thug. These are some of the more common names of pet dogs that are, quite honestly, getting too common and unimpressive to hear about. Not even mass media could think about new names; they use the same dog names over and over again. Perhaps it’s time we take dog naming to another level. It’s time to be more adventurous.

If you had a pet dog, what name would you give it? We offer three unconventional suggestions. Take your pick, or use them to invent your own. Be smart, be creative. The occasion of having a dog for a pet does not come every day, so make the most out of the opportunity!

Eagle. Sounds funny? It’s meant to be. Imagine playing fetch with your dog in the open parks. And then you suddenly shout, “Eagle fly!” Of course you would draw attention from the people around you – but that’s the entire point. People would look up to the sky and see nothing, and eventually they find out that it’s your dog you are actually referring to. You and your dog would be instant stars – just because your pet dog has an unusual name. But be sure that your dog could actually live up to the expectations of having Eagle as a name. He has to be lively and strong, commanding and firm.

Blubber. If your dog just does not fit the criteria, if he is fat and slow, then you might want to name him Blubber. As you would know, Blubber is the fat in whales and other species which allows them to keep their body temperature at a constant no matter what changes occur in their environments. This could be a perfect name for dogs that spend their time walking slow in the corridors, taking small steps in varying paces. The name sounds cute for a dog, but if you get the picture we’re painting, the name is just… Perfect.

Lingerie. Such a name fits a sexy dog – a poodle perhaps. Then you could dress her up in girly colors, with ribbons and dog shoes. We’re thinking a bit like Elle Woods’ pet dog, if you remember from the big screen (although towards the end of the second movie it was ‘revealed’ that the dog was actually gay). But gay or not, such provocative names could set-up the character of your dog – some theme you could build up on every time you have to dress her up. Consider your dog a better version of a doll; aside from being bigger, it actually responds to your hugs.

Give yourself some time to think about what name you will give your pet dog. For sure, it will be loyal to you, follow you wherever you go (as long as you allow them to), and communicate with you through their brown eyes and adorable paws. Be decisive in picking out its name, but also remember, bring out a creative side of you. It could be the best initial link you could establish between you and your new-found friend.
